Healthy garlic hummus

Must Try

This delicious garlic hummus recipe comes from the lovely blog MadeByEllen.c . Highly recommended; because this lady makes delicious dishes with fresh ingredients and a good dose of joie de vivre .

  • 1 bulb of garlic
  • 400 grams chickpeas
  • 800 grams of white beans
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Zest of 1 organic lemon
  • Good pinch of chili flakes
  • Pepper and salt

“I like to eat it as a snack, but also for lunch. It tastes great on a slice of sourdough bread. Cut very thin slices and toast until golden brown, yum. But it is also delicious on Turkish bread or on toast. And do you know what another advantage is… the day after the dip is even better and if I’m being honest….. the day after that even better. So also wonderfully easy.”

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

Cut the top/top of a garlic bulb and wrap the bulb in aluminum foil. Place it in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove the garlic from the oven when it smells soft, brown and deliciously sweet. Let cool.

Drain the chickpeas and white beans and put them in the food processor. Squeeze the garlic bulb well above the food processor and turn it into a smooth paste. Add a good splash of olive oil until you have a nice smooth dip. Add the lemon juice and chili flakes and season with salt and pepper.
