French toast with Nutella and strawberries

  • 8 slices of white sandwich bread
  • 8 heaping tablespoons Nutella or cream cheese
  • 8 large strawberries
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons of milk
  • Optional: 65 grams of granulated sugar
  • 1 heaping teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Butter

In this recipe, the sandwiches are served with fresh strawberries and topped with a generous dollop of Nutella. The outside remains crispy and the Nutella melts…  What more could you wish for? 

Not in the mood for Nutella by the way? Then replace it with cream cheese. Cut the crusts off the bread and beat the eggs in a deep plate and mix with the milk and cinnamon. Heat a frying pan over medium heat with a knob of butter.

Place the buns in the egg mixture and fry in the pan until browned on both sides. This will take 2-4 minutes per side. Add a little extra butter if the pan tends to dry out.

Serve with the strawberries and a dollop of Nutella.

Want to make it really special? Then flatten the slices with a rolling pin. Spread the end of the buns with a heaping tablespoon of Nutella or cream cheese and top with diced strawberries. Roll up the bread as tightly as possible and continue with the rest of the bread.

Make the egg mixture as described above and heat a pan with a knob of butter. Dip the bread rolls in the mixture and bake them seam side down in the pan. Fry in batches until golden brown all over, about two minutes per side. Add extra butter if the pan tends to be dry.

In another (deep) plate, mix the sugar with the cinnamon. When the rolls are ready, remove them from the pan and immediately place them in the sugar mixture. Roll them in well until the sugar is all over. Enjoy your dinner!
