What’s new on the Fun Recipes site?

Must Try

As you may have seen or noticed, the renewed LeukRecepten site is online! I am very proud and happy with the result. In this blog I’ll show you what’s new and there are really useful things!

Already in September 2018 I had the idea to give the site a new look. Not only in terms of design but also functionality. But because I was also curious about your opinion, I held a survey at the time, and LeukRecepten came out super well with an overall score of 8.7. I was very happy with that. But of course there were also some areas for improvement, especially on the mobile site. And I was often asked if we could also make an app, which I will come back to in the blog below.

I designed the new site myself, I used to be a graphic designer and I still enjoy designing things, especially if it’s your own site! And the Impetuous agency did the technical realization and contributed ideas. Things have also been adjusted behind the scenes, you won’t notice this, but it does make working for myself easier. But what exactly has changed for you on the front?

1. I think the biggest and most important change point is the tab menu on the mobile version. Here you can go to:

  • profile page,
  • saved recipes
  • Advanced search
  • inspiration page
  • general menu

As a result, our site has become a kind of combination of a mobile site and an app. To immediately answer the question about an app. You can easily log in directly via this menu and go to your favorite recipes. And so it is immediately clear that this option is there because it was previously hidden behind another menu button.

Tip: save the Fun Recipes site as an icon on your iPhone’s home screen, just like an app. This way you can easily open the site with 1 click. Read here how to do this for the iPhone and for Android. Also save your password from your own profile of LeukRecepten on your phone with login so that you are also logged in in the future or can log in quickly.

2. In this tab menu you can also click on ‘inspiration’, here you go to a new page ‘ what are we eating today ‘ where you will find a lot of inspiration for cooking and you can easily click through to the weekly menu that I put together every week, the surprise me button where you get suggestions and the recipe index page.

3. This recipe index page is also new, here you can easily find almost all categories on 1 clear page. This makes it even easier for you to search in a certain category such as healthy recipes and casseroles or on an ingredient such as puff pastry or rice. A number of new categories have also been added.

4. You can now zoom the step by step photos on mobile by clicking on them, then you can also click right to view them one by one. Before, these photos on mobile were very small, so now you can easily zoom in and see them up close.

5. The design is different, everything has become a bit tighter. Some more use has been made of white space, clean lines, black color and a different font. Also the logo and the menu bar are now centered.

6. A new search function has been added to the search bar: gluten-free and low- carb. This makes searching with a certain diet even easier.

7. The survey indicated that it would be easy to search in your favorite recipes . This function is now also available and is especially useful if you have saved many recipes.

8. Under the recipes and under the heading ‘popular’ on the homepage you will find handy tags that make it easy to click through or search in a certain category.

9. You can now select all your filters in the search menu and optionally enter a word and then click on ‘ search ‘ without the page loading results in between, which took extra time especially on mobile.

I hope you are satisfied and that this is an improvement. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know. I have tested everything extensively, but of course there may still be an error that causes the site to not work optimally. I am curious about your opinion.
