News, food post & hotspots – October 2019

Must Try

October is already over! Time to look back with tasty tips, nice hotspots I visited, photos from our holiday and a very special press trip! 

Now that it is really autumn I have spotted several beautiful mushrooms. Payo is also happy to help 🙂

Eric had taken beautiful new photos of cocktails for the Cocktailicious site , which is run by his brother. As a thank you, we were taken out to dinner at Mood on Strijp S in Eindhoven. The gyozas were really delicious!

Because Eric also started his own business this year as a freelancer, we went together to the SME Entrepreneurs Congress in Den Bosch with various inspiring speakers and power sessions. It was very busy and grand but we enjoyed ourselves and we went home with a goody bag.

Recently we regularly eat cauliflower or broccoli florets for lunch. First mix with a little oil, pepper and salt and then in the Airfryer until they start to get slightly crispy. I also make a dip with Greek yogurt. That way we get that daily amount of vegetables.

I also (finally) went to check out the Anne & Max hotspot in Eindhoven. Eric and I went for the lunch board for 2 with soups, salad, bread and egg. Tasty and fun to do once and share.

Jaimy was also present this month, together we went back to work and made delicious recipes such as a healthy apple crumble, goulash and nachos. These recipes will be online soon!

I received a super cool invitation to have dinner in the restaurant Jules Verne IN the Eiffel Tower, how cool is that! Together with other foodies and journalists I went to Paris by train and we enjoyed dinner at 123 meters altitude. What a beautiful experience!

3 star chef Frederique Anton prepared 7 courses with the hand harvested salt from Le saunier fleur de sel en la Baleine. He made, among other things, fish in salty food that was deliciously tender, I will also try that at home, although it probably won’t earn a star 🙂

Together with Eric’s parents, brother, sister-in-law and kids we went on holiday to Kos for a week. Enjoy the sun, sea and beach. And the Greek food 🙂

We were all inclusive for the first time but luckily the food in the hotel was very tasty and well looked after. We also made a trip to Kos Town where I ate delicious dolmas dolmas, Eric went for the falafel.

It was great fun together, especially with our 5 year old nephew Vigo and our 3 year old niece Loïs. Vigo wants to grow big and strong (stronger than aunt Sandra) and therefore ate extra vegetables on holiday.

It was great to get away from it all for a week and get some sun before winter arrives. And clear your head, because that has to happen every now and then. After a week like this I always have extra energy to get back to work.

And I got a very tasty food post! Calvé peanut butter with pieces of kruidnoten. I really like this one! It looks a bit like a combination of peanut butter and speculoos.

Laura’s Bakery launched a beautiful new book. This time no baking book with sweet pies and cakes but with snacks! With more than 150 savory snacks that you can prepare with and without an oven. With recipes for bruschetta, breadsticks, profiteroles, mini muffins, flammkuchen, stuffed eggs and tapenades.

Grand’Italia gave me a box with tomatoes, lemon, onion and a pinch of salt. These are the same ingredients that are in their pot of pasta sauce, no more, no less.

And last but not least, Knoppers gave me their new Nut bar! This is a bar with crispy waffles and delicious milk and hazelnut cream – such as button press waffle, plus an extra portion of hazelnuts in caramel, covered with a layer of milk chocolate. That tastes as good as it sounds!
