News, food post & hotspots – January 2019

Must Try

The month of LeukRecepten is now called News, foodpost & hotspots. Every month I share the tastiest food post and new products, nice hotspots and restaurants I have visited and news behind the scenes at LeukRecepten. Not much different than before, but I think the title describes it better. take a look:

I received a box from Chikko with a spice mix to make Golden Milk myself . I didn’t know it either, but Golden Milk comes from India. It is a deep dark yellow hot drink of (vegetable) milk and turmeric that warms you inside and out. A good and healthy alternative to a coffee or latte. It took some getting used to but now I really like it and drink it almost every morning.

More nice post from De krat, because they come with the new Fast Family Crate . Three healthy, tasty and child-friendly meals for the whole family delivered to your home in a crate. The ingredients are seasonal, come from your own Kikkerland and are often organic. I really thought the meals were super tasty and also perfectly balanced in terms of taste.

We have had an option for online grocery shopping on our site since the beginning of January. You can easily and quickly add the groceries to your Albert Heijn shopping list via the blue button under the ingredients list. Super fast and convenient!

I also made a lot of new recipes this month and Eric photographed them. I will already lift a corner of the veil: spaghetti with sweet potato, teriyaki salmon with noodles, banana bread with nuts and I experimented with a healthy cheesecake. The latter worked out very well and will soon be available online.

Have you made a resolution to drink less or no alcohol? Ghost in a bottle launched 2 new drinks without alcohol. No Ghost in a Bottle, Herbal & Floral Delight are the first Belgian non-alcoholic distillates based on plants and flowers and perfect for making a gin tonic. I loved them and didn’t miss the alcohol.

One of the funniest and tastiest posts this month came from Tony Chocolonely . They came with Tiny Tony’s. Mini chocolates in 10 different well-known flavors in 1 box. Ideal if you can’t choose or want to protect yourself from eating the whole bar in one sitting. Available in supermarkets from 18 February.

The ground floor of our house has now been completely renovated and styled. In January we started working on our bedroom, we made a wall green and put down some new rugs and decorative items. The result turned out really beautiful. Curious about the rest of our house? Then take a look at EveryDeco. Here Eric shares photos of our home and urban jungle.

Payo doesn’t like this cold weather and prefers to lie comfortably in his basket or curled up on his pillow in a rug. He comes from Spain and had to get used to the cold the first winter, luckily things are going a lot better now and he even liked the snow.

For my mother’s birthday I went with her and my sister for high tea at Herberg de bongerd . We got a soup and then savory and sweet snacks. It was very pleasant and will certainly be repeated.

For Caroline’s birthday we went for a drink and dinner at Bij de Neut . An ideal place to have a nice meal with (or without) children and to let them go their own way in the play area. And afterwards we ate an ice cream, our nephew Vigo watched with admiration how I gave Eric a bite, so cute!

Pauline van Uit Paulines Keuken launched a new product on the market at the end of January in collaboration with Leev. 4 baking mixes to make chocolate cake, apple cake, carrot cake or banana bread. The mixes are 100% organic and contain nutritious ingredients and a lot less refined sugar and unsaturated fats than regular baking mixes. I started with the carrot cake and it was delicious and easy to make!

HAK is also doing very well, relaunching some of their classics but this time without added sugar, sweeteners or salt. So from now on, the new 0% varieties of red cabbage, beetroot, kidney beans and white beans in tomato sauce are for sale in the supermarket.

I’ve wanted to eat at Afghani & Zo in Eindhoven for a while, because I love Afghan and Middle Eastern food. The restaurant is now called Flavor and spices , but the concept is still the same. We went for the Table full which consists of various dishes such as stewed pumpkin, meatballs, dips and rice. All wonderfully seasoned. Really recommended to visit once.

Because I regularly receive new products to try or for collaborations, I often have too much. Of course I really enjoy testing and trying new products, but sometimes I get different packaging or variants. That’s why I usually go to the Food Bank twice a year with one or two crates. I think every little bit helps 🙂
