Puff pastry sticks with pesto

Must Try

With only 4 ingredients you can quickly whip this snack together before the party starts.

Defrost the puff pastry if necessary and preheat the oven to 200°C. Do you want to use homemade pesto in it? Then make this one first.
Stick 2 slices of thawed puff pastry together. Spread with a layer of pesto and sprinkle with cheese. Stick 2 other sheets of puff pastry together and place them on top. Cut along the long side into 4 thin strips. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and hold on both sides with your fingers and twist to create a twist. Do the same with the rest of the puff pastry and pesto. The last 2 sheets of puff pastry can be cut in half and placed on top of each other and cut out 2 strips. So you have a total of 10 pieces.
If you use a large roll of fresh puff pastry, you can spread half of it with pesto and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Then place the other half on top and cut out approx. 10 strips.
Brush the pesto twisters with some beaten egg and bake them in the oven for about 15 to 20 minutes until brown and crispy. When they have cooled they will be a bit firmer.
Tip: Parmesan cheese contains animal rennet, so this recipe is not 100% vegetarian. Replace the cheese with an old or matured cheese with vegetarian rennet or try a vegan cheese.
