Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients
Start by gathering all the ingredients. Measure out 1 pound of ground beef. Dice 1 medium onion and mince 2 cloves of garlic. Slice 8 ounces of mushrooms. Have 2 tablespoons of flour ready along with 1 cup of beef broth. Prepare 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard, and 1 cup of sour cream. Finally, season with salt and pepper to taste. - Cook the Ground Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook it until browned and fully cooked through, about 5 to 7 minutes. Break up the meat while cooking so that it crumbles evenly. Once browned, drain any excess fat if necessary. - Sauté the Aromatics
Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the ground beef. Sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent. The aroma will be delightful and will enhance the flavor of the beef. - Add the Mushrooms
Incorporate the sliced mushrooms into the skillet. Cook for an additional 4 to 5 minutes until the mushrooms are tender. They should release their moisture and begin browning slightly, adding richness to the flavor profile. - Stir in the Flour
Sprinkle the flour over the beef and mushroom mixture. Stir well to coat everything evenly. This will help to thicken the sauce later on. Cook the mixture for about 1 minute to get rid of the raw flour taste. - Combine the Liquids
Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring continuously. Add the Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring this mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 3 to 4 minutes until the sauce starts to thicken. - Finish with Sour Cream
Reduce the heat to low and stir in the sour cream. Mix thoroughly until the sauce is creamy and smooth. If necessary, season with salt and pepper to taste. - Serve Over Egg Noodles
Meanwhile, cook the egg noodles according to package instructions in a separate pot. Drain and serve the rich beef stroganoff sauce over the hot egg noodles. Optionally garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color and flavor.
