For this recipe it is useful if you have two baking trays, or at least a baking tray and an oven rack. Tip: those loose baking trays as they often use in restaurants ( sheet pans in English) are ideal to have in your kitchen range.

And now: the trick

Preheat the oven to 220 degrees.

Line one baking sheet with aluminum foil. That will soon be for the burgers and the sandwiches. You use the other baking tray for the fries and you can line it with baking paper (which saves washing up). Spread out the fries and place both baking sheets in the oven. The fries at the bottom, the empty baking tray at the top.

Keep in mind that your fries should bake for about 25 minutes in total, until they are golden brown and crispy. Set a timer if necessary.

Knead the minced meat and make four burgers. Sprinkle each burger on both sides with plenty of salt and pepper.

Another trick: roll the grated onions in three layers of kitchen paper and squeeze out some of the excess moisture. This prevents them from releasing their moisture on your burger, in the oven.

Place the onions on the burgers and press them in slightly. Remove the hot baking pan from the oven and place the burgers on it. Place them in the oven above the fries; about 10 minutes for medium-rare burgers and 12 minutes for medium burgers.

Remove the burgers from the oven as soon as they are cooked (and don’t forget to check your fries!). Place a slice of cheddar on each burger. Place the halves of the hamburger buns cut-side up next to the burgers on the baking sheet. Return them to the hot oven for another minute to allow the cheese to melt and toast the buns.

Place the burgers on the buns, put some slices of pickle on top, have fun with ketchup and sprinkle some salt over the fries. Enjoy with a beer or a nice limo.
