Combine the subtle taste of almond bread with a slice of creamy Italian mozzarella, salt-dried Ganda ham and some fig jam. In short, an ideal snack to wake up the taste buds! Great as an amuse-bouche, small appetizer or lunch.
- almond cookies
- Fresh mozzarella
- Ganda ham (or Parma ham)
For the fig jam:
- 100 grams of fresh figs
- 80 grams of jam sugar
- 10 grams of red port
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
*This recipe uses Jules Destrooper almond biscuits, delicate biscuits made from pure butter, sugar candy and ripe soft almonds. You can also use other almond cookies.
Peel the fresh figs and heat them together with sugar, port and lemon juice for an hour over a low heat. Then let the fig jam rest until it has completely cooled down. You can also skip this and use ready-made fig jam.
Before serving, top the almond biscuits with fresh mozzarella. Sprinkle the mozzarella with a dash of fig jam. Then add another slice of dry Ganda ham and your bite is ready to serve!
Also tasty: top this sandwich with arugula or some black pepper.
