On the outside of a sandwich, on the other hand, Parmesan only provides more magic. A layer of the cheese creates a crispy texture that adheres nicely to the bread. This also applies to other hard cheeses (such as a hard Cheddar), but Parmesan is without a doubt our favorite.

This is how you give your sandwich a crispy crust of Parmesan cheese

How does it work? First of all, choose a nice piece of Parmesan cheese, preferably from the cheese shop. Then grate a block of Parmesan into a fine powder. By the way, always grate your Parmesan cheese yourself, which is always tastier and fresher than ready-made ground Parmesan in bags.

Then spread the grated cheese on a plate or cutting board. Spread two slices of bread along one with melted butter. Then carefully pass the butter sides through the Parmesan cheese.

Now heat a knob of butter in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Place one slice of bread with the cheese side down in the pan and top with the filling of your sandwich (preferably choose a soft cheese here). Place the other slice of bread on top of the filling. Now fry the toastie golden brown on both sides. Have you arrived in food heaven yet? We do.
