A bit strange but tasty: there is now hot sauce for your coffee

Must Try

We already had donut coffee , we already had the famous Dalgona coffee and we already had coffee flavored smoothies . What’s next? Let us tell you: hot sauce for your coffee. And yes, we really mean that.

Is it crazy? A little. But that’s actually not that bad, knowing that foodies are already inclined to add all kinds of ingredients to coffee. Milk, cream, ice cream, cinnamon, condensed milk… And so hot sauce.

The creator of the concept is a kickstart company called Ujjo. Their reasoning? Drip any hot sauce in your coffee and it tastes awful. So that had to be different.

Hot sauce for your coffee

With that motivation they came up with a hot sauce that is delicious in coffee. One that gives an extra sensation to your coffee, in the right way. What they have therefore deliberately left out are ingredients such as vinegar and garlic. What does go in are brown sugar, peppers, cinnamon and vanilla.

The result is coffee with a subtle hint of heat and a pleasant sweetness. It sounds pretty good to us. It is a bit reminiscent of spicy Mexican (hot) chocolate , with cinnamon and chili pepper. But then the coffee variant.

How does it work?

Ujjo’s hot sauce comes in two varieties: one for dark roasted coffee and one for light roasted coffee. After all, the two types of coffee are so different that they require a different hot sauce, according to the creators of the Ujjo hot sauce.

The basic recipe calls for 1/4 teaspoon of hot sauce per cup of black coffee. With this amount, don’t expect a dizzying dose of heat, but a subtle spiciness that comes to the fore especially at the end of a sip.

Not just for coffee

Finally, they emphasize at Ujjo that the hot sauce is not only delicious in coffee, but also in tea, with ramen , in stir-fries or on pizza. And have we gone crazy if we think that the hot sauce will also taste delicious in brownies or on an ice cream?

Maybe, but admit it: it’s a fascinating phenomenon to say the least…
