3 x you can also do this with a pack of instant noodles

Must Try

Although at Culy we prefer to cook as little as possible from packets and bags, there are those packets and bags that are quite irresistible. We are mainly referring to packets of instant noodles. The ultimate student food, the lifesaver, the pantry product par excellence. Fancy some inspiration? We show you three things that you can also do with that pack of instant noodles.

3 things you can also do with a pack of instant noodles

You can just cook those noodles as described on the package of course. But you can also do something else with it. Below three times great inspiration with such a package!

1. Use the noodles but add your own seasonings

Those little bags with powders and sauces with your instant noodles: what’s in them anyway? Well, fragrances and flavors especially. Not the best under the sun. Our tip: throw them away and season the noodles with your own seasonings. With a spoonful of XO sauce and a dash of good quality oyster sauce , for example, you’ve come a long way.

If you also add other tasty ingredients, such as a soft-boiled egg, fresh herbs, leftover meat or some (dried) mushrooms, you eat like a king.

2. Make fried rice with instant noodles

At the start of the lockdown, this became our go-to pantry dish: fried rice with instant noodles . You use a cup of instant noodles, which usually already contain some freeze-dried vegetables. Mix the noodles with some water and fry them with some boiled rice and a beaten egg. The result is fried rice that is really surprisingly tasty, especially for a quick bite.

In fact, it became such a big trend in Japan that Nissin – the largest supplier of instant noodles – announced that they will soon   be producing packets of ready-to-eat fried rice .

3. Make creamy ramen carbonara (like on TikTok)

We also have an instant windows hack that recently went viral on – how could it be otherwise – TikTok. Theresa (known on Instagram as @teekaeatz) shared a trend from Japan that she says is practically “ramen carbonara.”

All you need (besides your pack of instant ramen) are three ingredients: Kewpie mayonnaise (!), garlic and an egg. You cook the noodles and meanwhile mix the egg with the Kewpie mayo and a grated clove of garlic. Then add the bag of powder from the package instant noodles and the cooked noodles with the cooking liquid.

Adding mayonnaise to your instant noodles may sound a bit crazy, but it seems to be a popular trick among inmates. Not that that’s very convincing, but hey: don’t knock it until you’ve tried it !
