Making lemon sugar

Must Try

Give your sugar an extra taste! Great for baking, sprinkling over your cookies or in tea.

  • 500 grams of sugar
  • 3 lemons

Peel the lemons with a knife or vegetable peeler. Scrape off as much of the white bitter pith from the skin as possible. Chop the lemon peels into smaller pieces and add the pieces of peel together with 250 grams of sugar in a food processor. Grind the peels together with the sugar for about 3 minutes in the food processor.

Place the crushed peels with the sugar in a bowl and add the remaining sugar. Stir well and then sprinkle the sugar on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Let the sugar dry at room temperature for at least 1 hour.

You can store the sugar in an airtight container in the refrigerator for several months.
