Who knew making your own granola bars was so easy? We always thought it was a difficult task, but nothing is further from the truth: it is ready in 10 minutes and so much tastier!

  • 150 grams of muesli, but any cereal or breakfast product is possible. By that I mean: wheat flakes, oat flakes, dried fruit, seeds (eg sesame seeds or linseed), et cetera.
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • A saucepan
  • A (preferably square or rectangular) shape.

So simple – anyone can do it – and very tasty. Also ideal for on the road, a picnic in the park, a healthy snack for the kids… Enjoy!

Line a mold with aluminum foil or greaseproof paper. Take the pan and add the honey and sugar in it. Let this heat up on super low (!) fire. Stir occasionally; it must be all mixed together. Once this has completely melted after a few minutes, add the ingredients. I always make a mix of things I have left in the pantry: oatmeal, wheat flakes, linseed, candied fruit….

Stir this well so that the sticky caramel is all around. Let it roast in the pan for a few more minutes (keep stirring).

Then you put the mixture in the mold and press it well, so that it becomes one large ‘slab’.

You put this in the fridge for fifteen minutes to half an hour. After that you can take it out and cut it into strips. You can place these on a clean plate with some baking paper underneath. Put this back in the fridge; at least an hour to get a little harder and cold.
