French toast with peanut butter & banana

Must Try

In the Netherlands we love peanut butter, every year we all eat almost a billion sandwiches with peanut butter. But many people still think that peanut butter contains many unnecessary additives. Otherwise it can never be this good, can it?

Ingredients

For 1 person:

  • 1 soft bun or 2 white sandwiches
  • 1/2 banana
  • Calvé peanut butter
  • 1 egg
  • Butter
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • Big pinch of cinnamon

We asked Calvé exactly how that works . Because Calvé = peanut butter = duh. And guess what: the original peanut butter jar with brown cap contains nothing but peanuts, some vegetable oil, fat and salt.

We recently visited the peanut butter factory and saw first-hand how the original Calvé peanut butter is made there. So with only four ingredients, 85 percent of which is peanuts. For each jar (of 350 grams) about 585 peanuts are used (a lot!).

By the way, no artificial colors and flavors are added to Calvé peanut butter , and no sugar either. It only contains sugars that are naturally present in the peanuts.

A delicious peanut butter recipe

Slice half a banana. Cut a soft bun in half or use two slices of bread. Spread both sides with Calvé peanut butter and place the banana slices on one half. Now place the two buns on top of each other.

Beat 1 egg in a shallow dish and soak the bread in it, about a minute per side. Meanwhile, heat a large knob of butter in a frying pan and fry the bread until golden brown on both sides.

Just before serving, sprinkle the French toast with water, sugar mixed with cinnamon.
