Must Try

September is over! This was a festive month because a lot of people in my area had birthdays including me! Take a look at pictures of my birthday, my cake and our workation. 

The month started with a nice tea-tasting at TeaStories in Eindhoven. We tasted different teas and it was nice to chat with the other foodies who were there.

Then we went to Intelligentia, the tastiest and most special ice cream parlor in Eindhoven. It is completely pink, so very Instagram-proof and they often have special ice cream flavors such as saffron, Tony’s or cucumber fennel.

Eric and I love gin and tonics. So it was about time we went to Ginscal in Eindhoven, a gin and agave cocktail bar with countless bottles and types of gin. Really recommended to visit once.

It was our niece Lois’s birthday, she turned 3 although sometimes I think she’s already 4. How big and smart she is! Of course there was also a cake with candles.


Eric and I went to Hof van Salland for a midweek. A week away! This time we also took the laptops and turned them into a kind of workation. Work in the morning and go for a walk in the afternoon. And that combo works really well.

Every morning we received a breakfast box with all kinds of goodies in our house. That was a luxury! From sandwiches to croissants and milk to orange juice.

Payo was also with him and he also enjoyed the walks on the heath and the moments by the fireplace. This was Payo’s first week-long vacation with us and it went really well. I was afraid he would bark at night but luckily it wasn’t. So definitely worth repeating.

After walking you get hungry and a croquette sandwich will go in! At Buitengewoon Lekker at the beginning of the Sallandse Heuvelrug you can have a nice lunch or sit on the terrace and is a perfect starting point for beautiful walks.

It was my birthday and I made a white chocolate strawberry birthday cake ! I turned 33, I don’t feel 33 yet, but I notice that I am becoming more aware, I think that’s called growing up 🙂

And I celebrated my birthday with close family and friends at a nice place in Nuenen: D’n kleine dommel. And we were lucky it was 25 degrees that day and the kids who were there played outside in the playground.

Sometimes things go wrong in the kitchen. So I dropped an entire muffin tin with cheesecakes. Such a shame! Fortunately, we were still able to eat the leftovers that were still in the molds.

Fortunately, a lot of things went well for the rest, I made a lot of new recipes. The menu mainly featured autumnal recipes such as stews, pumpkin stew and soups.

I also received a lot of delicious mail, such as a package from Mister Kitchen with, among other things, sourdough pizza bases and pizza sauce. We have tested them and are fully approved! Ideal for a quick meal or lunch.

New cookbooks were also published, such as the renewed book ‘Each day Lekker en Simpel’ and the ‘Easy baking book’ by Rutger bakes. BrendaKookt also released a new ‘Easy meals tear-off calendar’.

Rude health came up with a few new drinks: Barista Oat and Barista Almond for your coffee and Hot Chocolate and Turmeric Latte are two ready-made hot drinks. Perfect for the coming cold days!

Tony’s came up with no less than 3 new Limited Edition bars! White Turmeric Chai Coconut, Milk Honeycomb Thyme and Dark Chili Fudge Pink Pepper. Although this is not a favorite for me, I found them surprising.
