The month of October was again dominated by tightened corona measures, but for me also the preparations for the holidays. Take a look behind the scenes

Not only me but also Payo loves to wrap himself in a blanket this time of year. And that makes for nice photos!

Just before the restaurants had to close again, I went to eat at Streetfood in Eindhoven with Jessie van de BrunchChick on national croquette day. We got a table packed with delicious things such as a beet burger, fries, stew and croquettes of course.

Behind the scenes I’ve been busy preparing recipes for Sinterklaas and Christmas. I can’t wait to share them with you but there’s a lot of goodies coming up. And by the time it’s December I’m done with it haha.

After all that cooking, of course, you also have to clean up. Fortunately, we usually do this together with music in the background.

It is still an almost unreal idea to see your own cookbook in the bookstores. He also looked great at Van Piere in Eindhoven. But it can also be ordered online. Tip: also nice as a gift for the holidays.

I met up with my girlfriend and we ate Polish. She served pierogi from her home country and it was delicious. I also want to make those again for LeukRecepten.

There was a nice interview in the magazine Koken & Enjoyen about me, about LeukRecepten and our new book of course.

It was real autumn weather and perfect for a nice walk in the woods and looking for chestnuts. We did that together with Eric’s father, brother and wife and kids. And our dogs of course. And my niece Lois was a real pack leader!

After the restaurants were unfortunately closed, it was still possible for many to pick up or deliver food. The same goes for Mood, where we ordered delicious sushi and Thai Curry.

Since a few months I eat almost vegetarian and one of the dishes that I do miss a bit are stews. But I also came up with a solution for that and made a delicious vegetarian stew. The recipe is still online.

The last day of the month was Halloween. We celebrated this very small together with our nephew and niece. Instead of a neighborhood party and going door-to-door we did hide and seek at home in the dark, also exciting!

I received a nice and tasty food post again! For example, I received a whole package from Faja Lobi with Surinamese products. Fortunately, there was also a cookbook because I am not very much at home in this kitchen. That will be tested soon.

A lot of new cookbooks are always published in the autumn, including the first book of the popular blog De Kookmutsjes. I have written a review that will be online soon.

Moonpop popcorn is new on the Dutch market. Available in the flavors Farmers Paprika, Lovely Sweet’N Salty and Sailor Seasalt. All three vegan, gluten-free and organic.

I also received a very nice large wok pan from BK to try. It has a unique shape that makes stir-frying even easier. You can easily toss and shake the ingredients. And this black steel variant can also go in the oven.
