Okay, this has been a really weird month. The month that everything changed. In this blog I tell how I experienced it and I share a number of initiatives and tips to help others and get through this time. 

It’s pretty crazy to think that I was still in the Vivera food truck on March 3rd. Some adjustments had already been made with regard to the corona virus, but that 1,5 meters away was not yet the case. It was a very nice afternoon where I made very tasty vegan shawarma wraps together with a chef that we handed out. Everyone responded very positively and I also made the wraps at home, delicious!

I received a baking package from HomeMade, they have new fresh packaging and appearance. And you only have to add water to the mixes for brownies, tompouces or cupcakes and that is sometimes quite tasty and easy, especially now that some ingredients such as flour and eggs are sometimes difficult to obtain.

From 4 to 11 March we were on holiday in Gran Canaria and that was just before the period when the corona virus was really taken seriously in the Netherlands. It was quite bizarre that on March 11 I was still in line at a busy airport and on a full plane and a few days later strict measures were taken.

But luckily we were able to enjoy our holiday, we had nice weather and most of all we relaxed and ate a lot. But it’s strange that you were still quite unconcerned there. Now I am extra grateful that I had the holiday, because when the next holiday will take place is still unclear, we have now canceled our holiday in June to Tyrol as a precaution. Because to be honest, I think this will take a while.

When the measures against the corona virus were announced, I was happy with it on the one hand because you don’t want this to get completely out of hand, but on the other hand I thought it was so intense. I saw so many restaurants, businesses and entrepreneurs closing around me. That’s why I held promotions on my Instagram and bought services and gift vouchers from my favorite entrepreneurs and raffled them among my followers to support them. I couldn’t do nothing and watch. Hopefully the entrepreneurs can keep their heads above water.

There were also many great initiatives from local entrepreneurs, restaurants and charities to help. You can also offer or ask for help via Just People. Various actions have also been launched for the Food Bank to provide households with the necessary groceries and products even in these difficult times. At The fast good company they donate a large part of their vegan frozen meals to healthcare staff.

There are also many restaurants where you can now pick up dishes, have them delivered at home or buy gift vouchers. I have already done this in Eindhoven at Restaurant Goyvaerts , Welp and Calypso. And if you want to eat at star level at home, order a dinner box from Cooklikeachef. For Easter you can also order an Easter box in Eindhoven at, for example, Anne&Max or Supportyourlocals . you can also digitally donate a dish from your favorite restaurant.

I also enjoyed a delicious bowl of Turkish mezze from Gulnur from Pure Food Pure Taste who makes home-delivery meals on some days. And I ordered an Indian meal from Jessie from Brunch Chick that she made together with her Indian family. delicious!

How’s it going? Me and Eric are all right. I’ve always worked from home so not much has changed. Eric can also easily work from home, so we spend a lot of time in our office at home. I do miss contact with friends and family. We usually eat at my in-laws’ house once a week, but now we do that online. Can we still hang out and chat for a bit?

Payo especially enjoys the sun and the long walks we are taking now. I think he likes that we are home so much haha. And he is enjoying a lot in the garden, and so are the owners 😉

The last recipe for my cookbook was photographed. Now I still have a lot of recipes to work out and write texts. It contains more than 85 recipes from appetizers to main courses and baking recipes. And the cover is now also known! More info can be found in this blog about my cookbook.
