News, food post & hotspots – December 2020

Get a look behind the scenes with things we are working on, our Christmas days, new recipes, fun (takeaway) hotspots and new products.

I started the month with a visit to my hairdresser Nienke from Zo Mooi Hairstyling, luckily that was still possible at the time. With a mouth cap on.

And we celebrated Sinterklaas in very small company, that seems so long ago! Our nephew and niece have been spoiled again and Payo too 🙂

The month of December was of course dominated by Christmas recipes, almost every day a new festive recipe came online, such as this vianetta ice cream cake .

On my Instagram I held a party week where I gave away a gift every day, including a package from Rude health. And that was super fun to do of course!

Just before the new lockdown, we went to Zeeland for a weekend, to Zoutlande. That was nice, getting a breath of fresh air on the beach and Payo was also completely happy.

We couldn’t go out for dinner but luckily the dune hotel Tien Torens where we stayed had room service so we could order delicious fish and chips and receive a bag of breakfast in the morning.

I got a visit to the door of Jessie from the Instagram account the BrunchChick. Together with BohoTiffin she made a very nice recipe booklet that can now be ordered in their webshop and brought it along with a nice goodie bag.

In the month of December there was also hard work behind the scenes. We are working behind the scenes with a lot of fun new things for 2021 that I hope to be able to tell you more about soon.

We ordered tapas at Senhora Rosa in Eindhoven. And this was very tasty but also a lot so we ate it for several days 🙂

For example, I used the garlic shrimp that were left over from the tapas in my spaghetti the next day.

And then suddenly it was Christmas! On Christmas Eve Eric and I just celebrated Christmas at home and enjoyed a 4-course dinner from restaurant Dijk9 in Eindhoven. That was exclusive enjoyment!

On Christmas Day we enjoyed a stewed pear cocktail Eric’s brother had made, he has a cocktail recipe website called Cocktailicious in case you are looking for a nice drink to make at home.

I made dessert for Christmas dinner. Part of it were chatter heads, and I immediately put them on the picture so that I can share the recipe with you soon.

Eric’s mother had also prepared a delicious dinner with fish, stewed pears, beans and potato gratin. Boxing day we visited my sister, my parents were unfortunately in quarantine.

I also received a nice mail, Jorrit and Sophie from the blog LekkerenSimpel have published a recipe booklet in which you can write down your own recipes. So nice to keep your own (family) recipes.

Knoppers came up with a new peanut bar. And I can tell you this one is really delicious! The old familiar taste of Knoppers but with a hint of creamy peanut filling.
