Of course we started the month with Sinterklaas, that seems so long ago! We celebrated with my niece and nephew and it was great fun! Everyone has been spoiled again!

I made a lot of new recipes. Especially healthy recipes, vegetable dishes and winter highlights were on the schedule, such as a beetroot stew, sauerkraut sandwiches and this spaghetti with chicory. So there’s a lot of good stuff coming up!

I shared a photo of our dog Payo on my Instagram who wouldn’t step aside in the kitchen. Apparently that was very recognizable for many people with a dog or cat, so I got several photos of stubborn animals that made me think twice.

Nice to work with a cup of hot chocolate, with whipped cream of course! Fortunately, the December stress was not too bad as far as work is concerned, I had already cooked and worked a lot in advance, that makes a difference!

Eric and I had dinner at Italian restaurant Dolce Vita in Eindhoven, which was first located in Son but now in the center of Eindhoven. It was delicious! We also toasted because more than 100,000 people now have an account on LeukRecepten and we achieved a new record with number of visitors in 1 day.

Confession; I don’t clean my oven often. And so I had it thoroughly cleaned by Ovenclean.nl. Now it is completely clean and fresh again, ready for the new year!

We had a very nice appointment in Amsterdam with delicious pastries! I will share with you shortly what that appointment entails. Please be patient!

Then we went for a bite to eat at Madame cyclette, where there are many healthy and vegetarian options on the menu. I had a cauliflower tabbouleh, delicious! And a funny detail, the restaurant is actually in a bicycle shop.

Fun girls doing things with my niece Lois! I was put in make up and in the end everyone had to believe it including dad haha.

Sometimes things go wrong in the kitchen here too. I made healthier egg cakes without sugar, they were delicious but didn’t look good. So I made a 2nd batch which luckily turned out well.

I received nice mail again: Hands of my chocolate has nice Christmas chocolate in the form of Christmas wreaths with cinnamon and meringue flavour.

I was surprised with a package from Fresh, a new fresh market in Leidsenhage. You can get fresh products such as bread, fish and vegetables, but also coffee, nuts and wine.

And then it was Christmas! On Christmas Eve, Eric and I had a nice dinner for two with lobster soup (from the Fresh package) and then a pasta with scallops.

We also made, like every year, a family portrait with Payo! Payo just didn’t want to look at the camera so we put a ball on the tripod, that worked fine 🙂

On Christmas Day we went to dinner with my in-laws. My mother-in-law had a delicious soup beforehand, followed by fried fish, chicory, stewed pears and gratin. I made a dessert, a tasty pavlova with tropical fruits such as passion fruit, mango and dragon fruit.

On Boxing Day we went to dinner with my own parents. Here I was responsible for the starter. I made an Italian salad in a glass with arugula, mozzarella, tomato and pine nuts. We really enjoyed these days, I hope you do too.
