News, food post & hotspots – August 2019

Must Try

August was a wonderful month, we were just working at home, but in between we enjoyed fun events, delicious dinners and I made a lot of new recipes and received nice mail, take a look: 

We walked a Wine & Food Walk in our city Eindhoven. 6 different dishes at 6 different locations. And the weather was super nice and we really enjoyed it. We ate our favorite dishes at Arigato en 1910.

I made paella on the Big Green Egg. It was my first time and it turned out great! I have already worked out the recipe for paella and put it online.

I made a lot of delicious recipes again. Almost every night I cook something new, take a picture with Eric and then eat it. I made pizza with chickpeas, dessert with cherries and chicken tandoori (which is already online).

I regularly have leftovers, which I usually make a delicious lunch, snacks or evening meal once a week. That’s how I made these nice pita breads with spicy hummus and a pomegranate seed that I had lying around.

I also started working with the first autumn recipes, secretly I think autumn is the best season when it comes to food. Jaimy also came to help me with this for a day and together we made delicious things with, among other things, pumpkin, mushrooms, hash and pears.

Every now and then we take a long walk on the moor with my father-in-law and his beagle Sawyer. In August it was extra fun because the heather was in beautiful bloom and had a beautiful purple colour.

We went to the fair! Every year in Eindhoven you have Park Hilaria. Together with my niece I went in the floating elephants. I felt more like a kid haha.

And I went to a festival, Zuiderliefde in Nijmegen. Fortunately it had stayed dry. Unfortunately there were long lines at the eateries so I was happy when we finally got a portion of spring rolls.

I also received nice and new things like this beautiful bag from Iglo. This beachcomber bag is a replacement for the plastic shopping bag and therefore helps to keep the sea cleaner and plastic-free. You can also get it yourself at 3 Iglo packs.

And I was also sent Pianta pasta sauce, the vegetable sauce brand for the Italian kitchen. There are several variants including bolognese (with vegetable meat substitute) and peperoncino (with vegetable sausage). You can buy it at Plus, among others.

It was our nephew Vigo’s birthday, 5 years old already! He is totally into the transformers and dinos. In the evening we went to eat at the Italian and he enjoyed his favorite food: spaghetti.

We had an appointment with the company that helps us technically with the development of our site. It was a very inspiring brainstorm and fun new things are coming up! Then, on their advice, we went for lunch at Madonna in Amersfoort, which was delicious.

I also spent many hours behind the computer; working out and scheduling recipes, answering emails and typing blogs. I sometimes enjoy sitting behind the computer for a day and updating schedules. I’m a real structure junkie.

So I bought Cynthia’s new Structure Junkie planner. I also have an online agenda and many lists, but I always find something better on paper, especially ticking it off.

We had dinner at our favorite restaurant in Nuenen: Pezzaz. They recently did a renovation and it looked really nice, and the food was top notch as usual!

Besides that we also went swimming last month, payo also enjoyed a lovely swim in the river. Then rinse and wash well behind your ears 🙂

Tony’s has something super cool! You can now put together your own bar completely yourself, from chocolate to toppings and wrappers. And it consists of 2 parts, ideal for sharing… or not of course 🙂

At Sappie you can order fresh detox juices but also homemade granola. I have tasted it and it is delicious. Ideal in your yogurt at breakfast.

So that was it again, the month of August is over! In September Eric, Payo and I are going away for another week and I am celebrating my birthday. More on that next time.
