I must confess that I usually buy tortilla wraps ready-made out of the package. But if I have a little more time, it’s fun and extra tasty to make them myself.
Making the waps is quite simple and you only need a few ingredients that you may already have at home. I’ve noticed it’s important to fry them briefly in a hot skillet. This keeps them soft and supple. If you bake them too long, they will become hard.
You can vary a lot with the filling. I already have several tasty recipes on the site such as: creamy spinach wraps , wraps with crispy fish or with chicken souvlaki . Have fun!
Recipe tortilla wraps
Ingredients 6 pieces
200 g flour + extra for dusting
1 teaspoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
2 to 3 tablespoons olive oil
175 to 200 ml warm water
Put the flour in a bowl and stir in the baking powder and a pinch of salt. Add the olive oil and stir with a wooden spoon. Then add the water little by little. Sprinkle the counter with some flour and place the ball of dough on it. Knead it with your hands into a smooth dough. Cover the dough with some foil and let it rest for about 15 minutes. Divide the dough into 6 pieces and knead into balls. Roll out a ball with the rolling pin on a floured work surface. Turn the wrap regularly so that it does not stick. Heat a frying pan without oil or butter on high heat. Place the tortilla wrap in it and fry it for 1 to 2 minutes per side.Check occasionally to make sure it isn’t getting too dark. After baking, cover the tortillas with a slightly damp tea towel to keep them supple.
