Flammkuchen rolls

Must Try

These savory rolls with a classic flammkuchen filling of bacon and onion are a perfect appetizer or snack

Prepare the flammkuchen dough as in the description, or use ready-made flammkuchen dough. Heat the oven to 220 degrees. Roll out half of the dough into a thin large rectangle on baking paper or a baking mat.

Spread half of the crème frache on the dough, leaving 1 to 2 cm free from the edges. Chop the onions and divide half, together with half of the bacon, over the flammkuchen. Sprinkle with a pinch of pepper and 3 tablespoons of grated cheese.

Carefully roll up the dough along the long side, using the baking mat or parchment paper to make it easier to roll. Cut the rolling pin into slices of about 2 to 3 cm thick, about 12 pieces with a sharp knife. Place these on a baking tray, keeping some distance between them. Make a second roll in the same way and place these rolls on a baking tray as well.

Beat the egg and brush the flammkuchen rolls with it. Bake the rolls in the oven for about 20 minutes. Serve them immediately.

Tip: you can also store them in a sealed container in the fridge and warm them up in the oven the next day.
