This casserole falls under the term comfort food for me. The recipe is easy to make and reminds me of the old days. Then my mother often prepared potatoes, meat and vegetables served with a cream sauce or cheese sauce.

By processing these ingredients in an oven dish, I create a new recipe , but with the pleasant ‘comfort’ feeling of the past. By adding a few new things, such as cayenne pepper, you add some spice to the dish and the spring onion provides a fresh bite. Try it yourself:

Ingredients

500 g broccoli, pre-cooked for 3 minutes
500 g (red) potatoes, pre-cooked for 10 minutes
250 g chicken, diced
1 sachet MAGGI cheese sauce
75 g bacon, sliced ​​​​and crispy fried
2 spring onions, sliced ​Pinch of
cayenne pepper

Baking dish, greased

Preparation

Sprinkle the chicken with cayenne pepper and heat a pan with a little oil or the fat from the fried bacon. Brown the chicken all over (it doesn’t have to be completely cooked yet because it will also go into the oven). Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

Prepare the cheese sauce as described on the package. Divide the potatoes, broccoli and chicken over the baking dish. Pour over the cheese sauce and sprinkle with spring onions and fried pieces of bacon. Place the baking dish in the oven for about 20 minutes.
