Valentine cake in the shape of a heart

Must Try

What do you think of my valentine cake? Nice huh! Eric will be happy with that. Do you also want to surprise your Valentine on Saturday with his beautiful heart cake, then read on to find out how you can easily make it yourself.

For this cake I used a nice trick so that you don’t have to buy a heart-shaped cake pan and still get a beautiful heart cake. As a base I used the Cloud cake from Dr. Oetker, this one is nice and soft and easy to make. What makes this cake mix special is the whipped cream that you add to it, which makes the cake extra creamy. Also add 3 eggs and then mix!

Because Eric loves lemon (lemon ice cream is his favourite) I chose the Cloud cake with lemon flavor. But you can also opt for vanilla, chocolate or vanilla & choco. While mixing, a nice fresh lemon scent came up that also spread through the kitchen during baking. After exactly 50 minutes the cake was done and I transformed it into a romantic Valentine’s cake.

Cut off the rest of the paper and grease the edges with a little butter. Place the Wolken cake mix in a bowl and mix gently with the whipped cream and eggs. Then mix on a high setting for 3 minutes until fluffy. Pour the batter into the baking pan and smooth out. Bake in the oven for 50 to 55 minutes.

Let the cake cool. Mix the butter and icing sugar together with a mixer to a cream. Cut a piece of the cake on both sides to form a point. Spread the round side of the cake that has not yet been cut with a little buttercream. Stick the 2 pieces on top to create a heart shape.

Brush the top of the cake with the rest of the butter. Roll out the fondant, if necessary use a little powdered sugar to prevent it from sticking. When the piece is big enough, place it on top of the heart-shaped cake. Smooth the top first and then start at the tip of the heart.

Smooth the sides from bottom to top. Then cut off the excess fondant. Decorate the cake according to your own idea, for example with hearts or write with chocolate or with the decoration markers from Dr. Oetker put your Valentine’s name on the cake.
