Taco fries with minced meat topping

Must Try

If I had to choose between fries and tacos it would be a tough one. They are both guilty pleasures of mine, but why not combine them! And this tasty creation isn’t even that bad.

They are potato fries with a topping of Mexican seasoned minced meat and vegetables such as lettuce and bell pepper. And to complete the dish, a generous scoop of sour cream and a handful of cheese au gratin.

CêlaVíta used Robust Cut Fries as the basis for this dish , which are coarsely cut and can be compared to homemade French fries. These fresh fries are ideal for this dish because they have a good and firm bite, because you don’t want it to be a limp bite. And these fries can be prepared in the Airfryer, deep fryer and oven.

These taco fries are also fun to prepare as a 1 person portion in small oven dishes or to put on the table as a large dish during a party. Together with an ice cold glass of Coke, this is my ultimate Friday night meal. Ideal to spoil yourself (and your table companions or sofa hangers).

Recipe taco fries with minced meat topping

 2 TO 3 PERSONS

Ingredients

700 gr CêlaVíta Robust cut fries
300 gr (beef) minced meat
Pinch ground cumin
Pinch or paprika powder
Sniff garlic powder
pinch of salt and pepper
1 tablespoon tomato paste
Pinch of chili powder
1 small bell pepper
125 ml sour cream
½ small can of corn
handful of grated cheese
1 jalapeno pepper (fresh or from a jar)
50 g iceberg lettuce

Preparation

Heat the oven to 220 degrees. Divide the fries on a baking tray and put them in the oven for 25 minutes, turning them once halfway through. Meanwhile, brown the minced meat with the tomato puree and season with the herbs. Cut the bell pepper into pieces and the jalapeno pepper into rings.
Place the fries in an oven dish and sprinkle with a pinch of salt and divide the minced meat over them. Sprinkle with the bell pepper, drained corn, jalapeno peppers and cheese. Place the oven dish in the oven for another 5 minutes at 220 degrees until the cheese has melted. Finally, top with some sour cream and sprinkle with iceberg lettuce.

Tips:
  • If you make this dish in the Airfryer, prepare the fries as indicated on the package. Then put the fries with the topping in a bowl suitable for the Airfryer and gratinate the taco fries in the Airfryer for a few minutes. Do this in 2 portions if necessary.
  • The CêlaVíta Robust cut fries can be found in the refrigerator (not in the freezer) and also available in a variant with skin.
  • You can also use a Mexican spice mix instead of the different spices on the minced meat.
