The festival season is in full swing. And I like that every year more and more (food) events are added. Now Hellmann’s has invited me to invent and create the ultimate festival burger. And it turned out nice for me, read on!
Good music, cool food trucks, tasty snacks and drinks and chilling out. Those are the ingredients of a successful (food) festival. One of my favorite dishes to eat there are burgers. Big, small, vegan or not, it doesn’t matter to me. As long as they are nice and juicy and contain crunchy vegetables and a creamy sauce. Like this one in the photo of Rrrollend Eindhoven.
To experience the ultimate festival feeling at home, I made a delicious sesame Thai burger with all the ingredients for a full-fledged festival burger. A homemade juicy hamburger of minced beef with herbs and sesame seeds on a grilled pita bread. Topped with cucumber for a crispy bite. The mango pieces create a sweet touch and the red pepper a spicy one.
To complete the burger a delicious fresh lime sauce made with Hellmann’s. This one is creamy and yet fresh in taste, ideal for your burger. This sesame Thai burger is a real taste explosion in your mouth! Just a nice sun and chill music and your festival feeling is complete 🙂
The only tricky part about a burger is to eat it properly. Even with a knife and fork it is sometimes quite a challenge, I speak from experience. But I also came up with something for that. I made a kind of bag out of baking paper so you can hold it or hand it out without sauce or other topping dripping down your fingers. Just fold, add a few staples and you’re done! See the instructions above.
Recipe Sesame Thai burger
300 g minced beef
2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
Pinch of ground coriander seeds
Pepper and salt
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
3 pita breads
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
75 gr mango
1 red pepper
1 spring onion Handful of
3 tablespoons Hellmann’s
Grate the lime and mix with Hellmann’s to a creamy sauce. Mix all the ingredients for the burger together in a bowl and knead 3 nice burgers. Heat a little oil or butter in a (grill) pan and fry the burgers for 6 to 8 minutes. Of course you can also use the BBQ. Grill the pita breads or bake them in the oven and cut them open.
Cut the cucumber into ribbons with a mandolin or cheese slicer. Cut the red pepper and spring onion into rings and the mango into cubes. Top the bottom part of the pita bread with a little lettuce. Place the baked burger on top with one or two cucumber strands. Spoon some of the lemon sauce on top. Divide some cubes of mango, red pepper (to taste) and jump onion over it. Finally, sprinkle with some toasted sesame seeds. Serve the burger in your homemade paper bag and you can take a bite out of it.
