French toast is the ultimate indulgent breakfast for me. My mother used to make them often and it was always delicious. Now I occasionally make them myself on the weekend. Enjoy your Sunday morning with a glass of fresh orange juice and a cup of coffee. There is no better way to start the day.

You can sprinkle the French toast with sugar or cinnamon, but I like this variant with Alpro Mild & Creamy the best. The creamy and mild taste goes perfectly with the sweet French toast and the fresh fruit. Here is my recipe that I would like to share with everyone:

Ingredients for 4 slices :

200 ml Alpro Drink Original
2 eggs
Pinch of cinnamon
Fresh forest fruits or other fruit
1 sachet vanilla sugar
4 slices of bread (preferably from 1 to 2 days old)
A knob of butter
4 tbsp Alpro Mild & Creamy
Icing sugar for sprinkling
Deep plate
Frying pan


Beat the eggs and the Alpro Drink Original in a deep plate with a fork. Add the vanilla sugar and cinnamon and beat until incorporated into the mixture. Place a slice of bread in the egg mixture and let it rest for a minute.

Meanwhile, heat a little butter in a frying pan. Let the slice of bread drip off and place it in the pan. If your pan is big enough, you can add another slice or two. Fry the French toast nicely brown on both sides. Put them on a plate and spoon some Alpro Mild & Creamy on top. Wash the fruit and divide it over, finally sprinkle with a little icing sugar.

The thick sweet brioche bread goes well with this recipe, but if you want to keep your breakfast lactose free, you can also take a type of bread without lactose.
