I recently posted a call to recruit blog insiders to work with me on Hüttenkäse. A number of selected lucky ones have now received a food package with ingredients to invent and make something delicious at home. I also got to work and received a package at home with a bottle of chili sauce, wholemeal bread rolls and cottage cheese of course.

I thought it was quite a challenge to come up with something with cottage cheese and chili sauce, not two things that I would quickly combine. But in the end it turned out that it went very well together. The Hüttenkäse is nice and creamy and fresh and the chili sauce provides some spice on the bun. And the cucumber and bean sprouts give the sandwich a crunchy bite and a Thai twist. That’s why I dubbed my sandwich the Thai chili delight sandwich.

Thai chili delight sandwich:

Ingredients 1 bread:

1 whole wheat bread
A few slices of cucumber
handful of bean sprouts
2 tablespoons cottage cheese
50 gr chicken in cubes
Chili sauce to taste
Pepper and salt

Preparation:

Sprinkle the chicken with a little salt and pepper and fry in a pan in a little oil until done. If necessary, bake the buns and cut them in half. Top the sandwiches with some cucumber slices and spread with some Hüttenkäse. Spoon the chicken onto the bun (the chicken is delicious on the bun both hot and cold). Divide some bean sprouts over it and drizzle over some chili sauce to taste. Enjoy your meal!
Tip: for a vegetarian variant you can also opt for tofu or tempeh instead of chicken.
