In the past we often ate Dutch pot with potatoes at home, at least 4 to 5 times a week. When I then went to live on my own, I went on a voyage of discovery and lost track of the potato a bit. But I have now completely rediscovered the pager! Potatoes are so tasty and versatile!
Potatoes come in different shapes and sizes. Waxy potatoes are a bit firmer and ideal for casseroles or for stir-frying. Floury potatoes fall apart a little faster and are excellent for soups or for making puree.
Do you also love potatoes and/or do you feel like a new challenge? Then I’m looking for you! And peeling potatoes is fortunately not an option, because we are going to work with Grandma’s cooking potatoes from CêlaVíta. With peeled potatoes it is important that they have a good shelf life. That is why CêlaVíta started looking for a good method that does not require preservatives or artificial additives as early as the late 1980s, and that turned out to be blanching (boiling briefly in water). The cooking potato is cooked to 80%, which shortens the preparation time and extends the shelf life. I checked it on the ingredient list on the package, and it’s correct! It’s just 100% potatoes.
A group of people will be selected from the registrations and will receive a free package sent to their home. It contains several CêlaVíta potatoes and a super handy potholder that is specially made for draining potatoes. Then make a nice potato dish with your package and share it on social media.
In the near future I will also get to work and inspire you with a number of fun and tasty potato dishes. The first is a casserole with green beans, ham with an Italian twist. Have a nice meal in advance and I hope to welcome you to my test panel soon.
Recipe oven dish with potatoes and green beans
900 gr Grandma’s waxy CêlaVíta potatoes
500 gr green beans
250 gr diced ham
80 gr dried tomatoes
1 onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
30 gr grated cheese
75 ml cream or crème frache
Pepper and salt
Oven dish of approx. 35 x 25 cm
Heat the oven to 200 degrees. Cut any large potatoes in half so they are all about the same size. Bring a pan of water to the boil with a pinch of salt and cook the potatoes for about 7 minutes.
Also pre-cook the green beans for 5 minutes in a pan with water or in the microwave. Fry the onion and garlic in a frying pan, then add the diced ham and fry for 3 minutes. Put the potatoes, green beans and the ham mixture in an oven dish and add the cooking cream or crème frache together with a pinch of salt and pepper and some basil.
Mix everything well. Divide the dried tomatoes over the baking dish and sprinkle with cheese. Bake the oven dish for about 25 minutes in the oven. Sprinkle some basil on top if you like.
