Breakfast on the weekend + giveaway

Must Try

Recently you could already read what my morning ritual looks like on a busy weekday. Now it’s time for a relaxing weekend morning. Breakfast on Saturday or Sunday morning is one of the things I really look forward to. Not only because Eric takes care of breakfast, but also to have a nice chat, browse through new cooking magazines or check the latest blogs on Bloglovin.

1. What does your morning look like on the weekend?

On weekends, I’m usually awake around 9am. While I am taking a shower, Eric gets to work in the kitchen. Sometimes he makes a fresh juice with the juicer and sometimes it becomes a juice from the supermarket. And of course a fresh cappuccino should not be missing. We try to vary breakfast. First Eric often made croissants filled with chocolate spread, very tasty but anything but healthy. That is why we are now trying to go for a healthier option more often.

2. What is your favorite weekend breakfast?

If I leave out the chocolate croissants and look for a breakfast that is healthier and also feels like a treat, I go for a fruit crumble. This consists of an oven dish with fresh fruit and a crispy layer of Quaker Complete.

3. What do you do when you don’t have much time for breakfast on the weekend?

We try to go to the gym on Sunday morning. At times like that, we decide we’re going to have a quick bowl of yogurt, Quaker Complete and some fruit next to it. This grain mix consists of 94% whole grains such as oatmeal, wheat and barley. In addition, there are seeds and nuts or cranberries in it. A tasty and healthy base, ideal for sports. When we come back we relax with a cup of cappuccino and a magazine or the laptop.

4. How can you enjoy your breakfast on the weekend without it becoming unhealthy?

On the weekend I want to enjoy myself and I don’t look so closely at what I eat. But those chocolate croissants still add up quite a bit, so I started looking for healthier alternatives. With, for example, pancakes of egg and banana or a crumble with fruit and grains you can still enjoy it in a healthier way.

5. Tips for the ultimate weekend breakfast?

  1. Make sure you have a good cup of coffee or cappuccino. For example, get special coffee beans or pads that you only use on the weekend.
  2. Pay a little more attention to the table setting or if you really want to impress, serve breakfast in bed.
  3. Don’t start thinking about what you are going to do or have to do that day. Take your time, it’s moments like these that bring out the best thoughts. We often come up with great ideas for our site on Saturday or Sunday mornings.
  4. Go crazy and make a champagne breakfast if you have something to celebrate or just because.

To introduce you to this Quaker Complete grain mix I can give away 5 test bags. So if you are curious, leave a comment on this blog about your favorite breakfast at the weekend and maybe you will soon be enjoying the breakfast table. You can respond until January 28, 2015.
