8 x creative with a muffin pan

Must Try

I’v baked quite a few different muffins in my life, with chocolate, apple, cinnamon, nuts and so on. But last week I saw an image of mini apple pies, they looked delicious and cute. I had to try that too!

At the same time, I was inspired to do many more fun things with a muffin tin. I couldn’t wait to work out some ideas in the kitchen.

1. Lasagna Muffins

Coincidentally, I was planning to make lasagna on Saturday. I had set aside some sauce and lasagna sheets and used them to make mini lasagna. You divide the lasagna sheets over the greased molds and you spoon in the sauce, a little cheese over it, put it in the oven and enjoy. They are also fun to serve at a party! Click here for the whole recipe.

2. Mexican mini snacks

My next experiment were the mini wrap snacks. This time I turned the muffin tin over and pressed circles out of the wraps with a cooking ring and pushed them between the elevations. This gives you small containers that you can fill with, for example, chicken and vegetables. 15 minutes in the oven and you have a delicious snack. Click here for the whole recipe.

3. Bacon egg muffin

Sunday morning seemed like a perfect time to try the bacon-egg muffins. The bacon hardens in the oven so that it remains as a tray. You can also add different types of vegetables such as pieces of tomato, spinach or peas. This recipe is also nice to serve during Easter breakfast or brunch. Click here for the whole recipe.

4. Mini apple tarts

Sunday afternoon I wanted to take something tasty to grandma and grandpa. These became the mini apple pies, the recipe is the same as a large apple pie but much more fun. Cut circles out of the dough and line the muffin tins with them. Fill them with pieces of apple, cinnamon and sugar and cover with strips of dough. These pastries are also ideal as a treat. Click here for the recipe.

5. Freezing

If you have leftover soup or tomato sauce, you can also freeze it in portions using a muffin tin. A silicone muffin tin is ideal because then you can easily push the frozen soup or sauce out.

6. Boiling Eggs

Instead of boiling eggs in water, you can also cook them in the oven. A muffin tin is ideal for holding them in place. You put an egg in each muffin tin and put them in the oven at 170 degrees for 30 minutes. Then you ‘scare’ them in cold water.

7. As a taco shell holder

An upturned muffin tin is ideal as a holder for taco shells. You can easily insert them between the elevations and slide them into the oven. This also prevents them from breaking when taken out of the oven.

8. Mini potato gratins

It is always difficult to neatly scoop a scoop of potato gratin from a large baking dish onto a plate. That’s why these single portions are very useful. Cut peeled potatoes into thin slices and divide between the greased muffin tins. Pour a mixture of egg, cheese, whipped cream, pepper and salt over it and put them in the oven for 30 minutes at 175 degrees.
