Pizza rolls with tuna

Must Try

During the Princes Insiders promotion a lot of tasty things were made by my insiders and by myself. In this third and last blog I will share another delicious recipe with tuna with you and the winner!

The winner with the best Princes tuna recipe wins a weekend away worth €250. It’s nice to get away for a while in late summer or autumn when everyone is back from vacation. But before I announce the winner, I would like to thank all my insiders for participating and all their tasty ideas that you can also find on social media via the hashtag #kokenmetprinces.

But in the end there can only be one winner… and that is: Maaike Stet! She made, among other things, these stuffed courgettes with tuna and stuffed pointed peppers with tuna and feta (you can find the recipes by clicking on the link of the recipe). Congratulations! Enjoy your weekend away!

In the meantime I have made a main course myself that consisted of a delicious pasta dish with broccoli and tuna. Followed by a lunchtime dish of tuna and avocado quesadillas. And now I made a tasty snack to finish that at our house was finished in no time.

You can make these pizza snacks almost entirely from the pantry or freezer. Super easy and delicious if you have an unexpected visitor or want to snack on the couch in the evening. I have standard puff pastry in my freezer and pizza sauce is in my kitchen cupboard. You can also make your own pizza sauce by mixing tomato sauce with some Italian herbs.

And recently I also have a can of tuna in my pantry as standard. I’m really surprised how much is possible with this canned fish. And even though I am busy thinking up and making recipes every day, I have received a lot of new inspiration and ideas. And I hope you too :).

Recipe Pizza rolls with tuna

6 sheets of puff pastry from the freezer (or 1 roll of fresh puff pastry)
150 ml pizza sauce
1 can of Princes tuna in sunflower oil
Handful of grated cheese
1 red onion
Egg for brushing
Optional: flour for dusting

Baking tray with baking paper

Heat the oven to 200 degrees. Let the puff pastry sheets thaw slightly and then press them together with the edges to form a rectangle. If necessary, use a little flour to prevent sticking to the surface.

Spread the puff pastry with a layer of pizza sauce. Drain the tuna well and divide over the pizza sauce. Chop the red onion very finely and sprinkle over the ‘pizza’ together with the cheese. Leave at least 1 cm from the edges. Then roll up the pizza from the long side. Don’t press too hard but roll it up loosely.

Place the roll seam side down and cut with a sharp knife into slices of about 1.5 cm. Don’t push too hard with the knife, but make a sawing movement. Place the rolls on the baking tray and brush with the beaten egg. Bake the pizza rolls with tuna in about 25 minutes until nicely browned.

Tip: also delicious with capers or strips of grilled bell pepper
