5 x dishes for the BBQ

Must Try

On my site you will find many tasty barbecue recipes. But side dishes should also not be missing and can make your BBQ evening just that little bit more fun and tastier.

That is why in this blog you will find a lot of inspiration for (vegetable) things that should absolutely not be missed and useful tips. I also share recipes for various homemade herbal spreads, you really have to try them! Especially the one with lemon and mint is wonderfully fresh and my personal favorite! They are made in a few minutes and give a slightly more personal and homemade touch to your BBQ. Enjoy your meal 🙂

1. Sauces

What is a piece of meat without a nice sauce. These are often bought ready-made such as cocktail sauce, garlic sauce or barbecue sauce. But also think of tzatziki, aioli or mustard sauce. And with little effort you can also make them yourself, which I often find just a bit tastier. There are recipes on my site for: gypsy sauce , peanut sauce and barbecue sauce that also fit perfectly with a barbecue.

2. Baguette

For some extra filling, bread is perfect for a barbecue. You can buy it fresh or bake it in advance. What is also a nice tip is to cut the bread at the top and put ingredients such as cheese, tomato and / or herbs in between and put it on the bbq for a while. View the BBQ baguette with pesto recipe .

3. Homemade Herbal Spreads + Recipes

There is nothing better than homemade vegetable herb ‘butter’ or spread for baguettes. Once I made this myself, I don’t want anything else. And it’s super easy! I use Becel Original as a base, but you can also use other 100% vegetable variants of Becel. The vegetable spread is easy to spread straight from the fridge, unlike butter. You probably recognize this when you buy herb butter in the store, it always ends up as chunks on my baguette. Super handy if your guests are suddenly on the sidewalk! In addition, this vegetable spread contains omega 3 and 6, these unsaturated fatty acids ensure the maintenance of a healthy cholesterol level in the blood and are therefore good for the heart!

• Recipe lemon herb spread with mint
150 gr Becel Original
1 lemon
Pinch of sea salt
Pinch of dried or fresh mint
Pinch of pepper

Grate the lemon and squeeze the juice. Add the grater and 1 tablespoon of juice to the Becel Original. Add the mint, salt and pepper and mix together. Keep in the fridge for as long as possible. Garnish with a lemon wedge and some lemon zest, if desired.

• Recipe spicy herbal spread with chili
150 gr Becel Original
1 teaspoon paprika powder
Pinch of chili flakes
Pinch of sea salt

Mix the Becel Original with the paprika powder and sea salt. Add chili flakes to taste until spicy enough. Garnish with some extra chili flakes and keep the mixture in the fridge for as long as possible.

• Recipe curry herb spread with parsley
150 gr Becel Original
1 teaspoon curry powder
A few sprigs of fresh parsley
Pinch of sea salt

Finely chop the parsley and mix with the curry and a pinch of salt through the Becel Original. Garnish the herb spread with some parsley and keep it in the fridge for as long as possible. Also delicious with fresh pineapple chunks.

4. Salads

Salads are nice and fresh and provide a dose of vegetables at the BBQ. I often make couscous salad myself, it is super quick to make and you can easily prepare it in advance, such as this couscous salad with sweet potato . Pasta salads always do well at the BBQ, or how about a potato salad. I also like to add fruit to a salad, for example cubes of mango, melon or passion fruit . This gives the salad a delicious tropical touch.

5. Fruits

In addition to fruit in a salad, you can also put loose fruit on the table, such as a bowl with grapes or strawberries. I also like to serve watermelon wedges on a plate. Fruit is also delicious on the BBQ. Grill, for example, pineapple wedges or half peaches at the end and serve with a scoop of ice cream and you have a delicious dessert. Or go for a special dish and make a watermelon steak with feta .

And don’t forget to drink. I find it useful to put down a lemonade tap with water, ice cubes, lemon slices and mint. This way everyone can easily tap their own drink and you don’t have to walk as often 🙂
