Gypsy sauce

Must Try

Delicious homemade slightly spicy gypsy sauce with bell pepper and pickle

Finely chop the onion and garlic and fry them in a pan with a little oil. Meanwhile, cut the bell pepper into small cubes and add to the pan. Cut the tomato into pieces and add to the pepper together with the liquid and the seeds. Season with a generous pinch of paprika and a small pinch of chili powder. Stir in the tomato paste and add the chopped gherkin. Let it cook for a few minutes and then add the vinegar and sugar. Add the water and stir well. Crumble in the stock cube and bring the mixture to a boil. Stir the cornflour with a teaspoon of water and add to the gypsy sauce. Let the sauce thicken for a few more minutes while stirring occasionally. The sauce is delicious with a piece of meat such as these homemade schnitzels and/or fries.
